Philip Reitinger Named “Ecosystem Champion” at the Cyber Policy Awards

On February 5, 2026, GCA’s former CEO Philip Reitinger received the Cyber Policy Award in the Ecosystem Champion category, at an event hosted by the Institute for Security and Technology (IST) in Washington, DC.

His work across his entire career has had a profound impact on cybersecurity. Most recently, he served as GCA’s founding CEO for ten years before retiring in 2025. He is recognized as a founder of both Nonprofit Cyber and Common Good Cyber, and for his tireless work to support the community of nonprofit organizations working to keep the Internet safe and secure for all.

“In case you don’t know, the vast majority of the Internet is actually protected by nonprofits,” he explained. “These entities play critical roles, and they do so with very little funding, and sometimes they even go away. … Cybersecurity is a we problem, it’s not a me problem. It’s only by solving this together as an ecosystem, through real collective action, that we’re going to make a difference.”
