Robert Sheldon is the Senior Director of Public Policy & Strategy at CrowdStrike, where he leads corporate engagement on various federal, state, and local government policies, programs and initiatives. In this capacity, he runs the company’s Election Security Initiatives, serves as company representative to the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC) and oversees the Congressional Affairs practice. Robert advises CrowdStrike leadership on emerging policy and public sector technology matters and interfaces with government organizations, academic institutions, and think tanks.
Prior to joining CrowdStrike in 2017, Robert was policy director for emerging threats at Business Executives for National Security, a membership-driven think tank. From 2013 to 2014, he was a Mike Mansfield Fellow in Tokyo, where he worked to enhance U.S.-Japan bilateral cybersecurity cooperation. Earlier, Robert was senior policy analyst for military and security affairs at the congressionally-mandated U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, where he led a team of analysts focused on China’s cybersecurity, telecommunications, and technology policies. Concurrent with his role at CrowdStrike, Robert is an adjunct fellow with the Strategic Technologies Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and an adjunct lecturer on international cybersecurity policy at American University’s School of International Studies.
