Online Cyber Awareness Survey for Young Adults

In today’s digital age, online scams have become increasingly sophisticated, targeting and affecting individuals of all ages uniquely. Many people assume that young adults are “digital natives” and are, therefore, well-protected when they connect, communicate, and transact online. Recent data and cyberattacks suggest that assumption is not correct. Despite their digital experience, young adult Internet users are still highly susceptible to scams and other cyber threats, according to the 2022 Better Business Bureau (BBB) Scam Tracker Risk Report which found this age group reported a higher median dollar loss than all other age groups.

Recently, the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA) and Amazon began collaborating to launch a global initiative around consumer education on scam identification, prevention, and reducing stigma on reporting scams among young adults, ranging 18-25 years old. As part of this effort, we’ve launched a survey to gather insights related to online scams and mitigation techniques for this age group.
